I dreamt I met an angel

While walking down a road

He looked so wise and youthful and so old

I tried to ask a question

He eyed me carefully

Was this old man an angel or was it me?

When I awoke next morning

I found my pillow was gone

That is an old joke's punch line

That I found on my lawn.

Welcome to the monkey house

Welcome to the monkey house

Welcome to the monkey house

I can hear the angel say

It doesn't make sense in any way

Last night I met an angel

While dreaming in my bed

I can't forget the scope of what he said

Told me there's no such thing as

Pi or three point one four

He let me ask one question, no more

I asked him what he thought of

The planet's human race

"Here's how to greet the aliens

Coming in from outer space"

Welcome to the monkey house

Welcome to the monkey house

Welcome to the monkey house

He said all the angels know

We've got a long, long ways to go
